Google Ads management
There are two ways in. If you already know your account needs someone on it, get in touch and we'll talk it through. If you're not sure, the account review is the cheaper first step: I look at what you've got and tell you what I find.
Many Google Ads accounts tell a similar story...
Most accounts I'm asked to look at have the same thing wrong with them.
I don't recall a single time I've opened an account for the first time, gone to the negative keyword lists, and thought: they've nailed this.
Usually there's nothing there at all. Someone added keywords to an ad group and left Google to work out the rest. Sometimes there's a handful of negatives sitting at campaign level, which is better, and still nowhere near enough.
What follows is as reliable as night following day. Pull the search terms report and you can see exactly where the money went: searches that were never going to buy anything, paid for at full price, month after month.
Years ago you could argue it mattered less. When exact match was genuinely exact, a careful account could get by without much of a negative list. Those days are gone and they're not coming back. As match types keep loosening and Google moves towards campaigns with no keywords at all, negative keywords are close to the only control you have left over where your budget actually goes.

The initial work
This is the rebuild, and it happens once.
- Review your campaigns, and rebuild or consolidate them where the structure's working against you
- Build proper negative keyword lists, including working back through your historical search terms to catch as many as possible. This is the big one, and it's where most of the wasted spend stops
- Go through the keywords, take out what isn't working or should never have been there, and restructure what's left. Length and match type change what you actually end up paying for
- Build custom audiences
- Research and write the ad copy around what you actually sell
Every month after that
Three things happen every month, whatever else is going on:
- The search terms get reviewed. What people actually typed to trigger your ads, and what each of those searches cost you
- New negative keywords come out of that review. This is how the waste gets stopped before it compounds, and it's why the list never stops growing
- The ad copy gets reviewed, and rewritten where it isn't pulling its weight
Beyond those three there's no fixed checklist, and I'd be misleading you if I gave you one. Google changes things constantly and people search in ways nobody predicts, so the rest of the work follows whatever the account is actually doing. One client brings different collections through as the seasons turn, and the campaigns move with them. Another runs sales regularly, and each one needs setting up properly and taking down again afterwards.
The search terms review does double duty, by the way. It's where the waste shows up, and it's also where the opportunities do.
You get a report at the beginning of each month, and calls whenever you want them.
What it costs
Initial work. Depends on the scale and scope of your account, which usually comes down to how many services or products you sell. Starts at £1,000 plus VAT.
Monthly retainer. Again driven by the size of the account. Starts at £500 plus VAT.
I don't start charging the retainer until a full month after the rebuild goes live. Tuning campaigns needs data, and until that data exists there's nothing genuine to tune against.
If you want to talk
If any of that sounds like your account, get in touch and we'll talk it through. There's no obligation, and it's not my style to hound people.
If you'd rather I looked at the account first and told you what I found, that's the account review. £500 plus VAT, and no obligation afterwards.
Before you decide, worth knowing
- Invoices go out on the 1st of each month, covering that month's work
- There's no tie-in. Let me know before the 1st and there's no next month. You can also pause if you need to
- Access is granted through Tools and settings > Setup > Access and security > Managers, which is also where you'd remove me
- Your account is backed up before I change anything
