I wrote a tongue in cheek page a while ago about being a ‘Hampshire SEO guru‘. Definitely only a bit of fun and simply a way of highlighting some basic search engine optimisation techniques.
What I do find alarming about the SEO industry is the amount of noise it generates and how some SEOs are elevated to guru-like status simply because they seem to be fond of conferences and microphones.
It’s intriguing to observe how this is all developing within the SEO space but I can’t help wonder why this industry in particular seems to attract so many big egos. Are there any other professions where someone who happens to be quite good at their job becomes a ‘minor celeb‘ just because they’re prepared to talk about what it is they do for a living?
Personally, I’m just a Hampshire SEO consultant who enjoys helping clients get more from their website. Guru? Not for me, thank you!
